Who are Hocus Phocus...

We believe that capturing your special day goes beyond just showing up with a camera, it's about truly getting to know who we are.

Photography

I got my first camera when I was 12 and was instantly hooked. Whether it was people, animals or landscapes, I loved the idea of freezing a moment in time. Back then, I had no idea it could one day become my job.

It took me a while to realise that photography isn’t just about taking pictures. It’s about capturing something that will never happen in quite the same way again. That moment, that feeling, that memory. That’s what I try to hold onto through my work, so people can look back and feel like they’re right there again.

Magic

My love for magic started young, around six or seven, with a Paul Daniels set. I couldn’t do much with it, but it sparked something. A year or two later, I saw my grandad do a card trick I still can’t explain. It made me believe magic might actually be real.

Then in 1997, I saw David Blaine’s first TV special. That changed everything. I watched it again and again, desperate to figure it all out. I practised constantly, and eventually it became second nature.

Today

Almost 30 years later, I get to share both of my passions, photography and magic, with others. Whether I’m behind the camera or performing close-up magic, it’s all about creating something meaningful and memorable. Something that makes you feel something. Just like I did when it all began.

Lizzie

Hi, I’m Lizzie, a wedding photographer based in Nottingham, capturing natural and candid moments across the East Midlands and beyond.

My style is documentary-led, which means I focus on real, unposed moments that tell the true story of your day. I prefer to blend into the background, quietly observing so I can capture the genuine smiles, glances and emotions that happen when people don’t realise the camera is on them, creating  a relaxed and honest reflection of your wedding, full of memories you’ll treasure.

I got into wedding photography because weddings are joyful, emotional, and full of variety. No two are the same. One of my favourite parts of the day is when I can take you both aside after the ceremony. It’s a rare moment to pause, take it all in, and enjoy the fact you’ve just got married. I’ll capture some shots of just the two of you while you take that time together.

Couples often describe me as friendly, easy to be around and someone who helps them feel comfortable in front of the camera. I’ve photographed weddings in all sorts of venues, from stately homes to barns, and I love seeing how couples put their own personality into their day.

We're based in the East Midlands but happy to travel wherever your wedding takes us. Whether you’re planning a countryside barn celebration, a city wedding, or something more laid-back, we'd love to hear your plans.
